Lack of iron is one of the more common nutrients associated with chlorosis. The primary symptom of iron deficiency is the development of a bright yellow leaf with a network of dark green veins. Manganese or zinc deficiencies in the plant will also cause chlorosis.

Chlorotic plants produce smaller fruits of poor quality with bitter flavor. Foliar applications are made directly on the leaves and trunks of affected plants during the growing season; with a rapid response, often in a matter of days.

Generally, mild chlorosis starts as a paling of interveinal leaf tissue, whereas a yellow color indicates a more serious condition.  Affected areas may be stunted or fail to produce flowers and fruit.

By the time most iron chlorosis occurs and is treated with foliar application, significant growth reduction and loss of yield potential has already occurred. To avoid yield reductions, make the first foliar application as soon as chlorosis appears.
