Agricultural decisions have long term impacts.

Since the beginning of agriculture and livestock farming, people have transformed areas of natural vegetation into cropland and pastures.

Different types of vegetation influence the exchange of energy and water between the atmosphere and the Earth’s surface. This affects regional climate.

Grasslands reflect sunlight better and warm up less. Forests evaporate more water through their leaves and needles, and can cool themselves better than shallow-rooting grasslands.

The Pressure of Food Production video

Why should we care about dirt? With more than half the population living in cities, what’s the big deal about something we work hard to keep out of our homes and streets?

As it turns out, the earth’s living soil - is a huge deal when it comes to our sustainability, food and water systems.  We need a healthy soil system to filter our water and grow crops to feed us.

Soil is the heart and soul of the planet and it is sending us an SOS
